Success Story: American Classroom Supply
Jim Deeds, the owner of American Classroom Supply, shares his experience working with EYStudios for the launch of the store’s brand new look.


As a family of teachers, it seemed only natural to begin a business providing teaching supplies to primary and secondary teachers. For the past two years, we have been active online, using a Yahoo! Store platform. We chose Yahoo! for it’s excellent reputation for reliability and it’s record of having provided many successful small businesses with an online presence.

Our original design was good and carried the theme of our website well. However, it lacked ‘depth’ and looked too much like every other website. We had that design for 1.5 years, and were not terribly unhappy with it, but felt we needed to move to the next level to attract customers and provide a better overall experience for them. Programmatically, the old design did not have the ability to sort products by Grade Level, which was a big issue for our customers.

We are active in the Yahoo! Support Forums and kept hearing about Eric Yonge and his company, EYStudios. We did a lot of research into his current designs and talked to quite a few of his current and past customers. To a merchant, these reports were nothing short of ‘glowing’. I might add that these are customers that I searched out and were not recommended by Eric or his company. I was looking for a designer that could not only do the programming, but could provide a memorable website for the customer, and I found him.

I gave EYStudios complete autonomy in designing my new site, right down to the logo. My first reaction (and that of everyone else I showed it to) was, “Wow – now THAT pops!”. Only minor alterations were made before it went live and those alterations were generally suggested by EY themselves.

In the two months after my new design went live, my page views increased 41%, my bounce rate decreased 12%, my Average Time on Site increased by 68% and my Conversion Rate increased by 55%. Pretty impressive numbers, if you ask me.

I’ve received numerous accolades from my family, peers, friends and everyone else who has viewed my site. Most importantly, I’ve received the same kind of rave reviews from my customers, who love my site.

I have worked with many vendors and I must say that EYStudios has been the most accommodating of any I have ever seen. They not only respond immediately to any question I might have, they get in front of problems and look at it as if they were the site owner – making good, sensible suggestions.

As a direct result of the job they did on my re-design, I have asked them to design my Social Media campaign, including my Facebook, Twitter and custom newsletter. I could not be happier with the result and their follow up. My recommendation to any site owner would be to consider EYStudios before settling on any designer. There is nothing that I have asked for that could not be done and further, done in a timely manner. The fact is, they are “Top of the Class”!
