Understanding Facebook Business Pages
There has been a lot of talk about Facebook business pages lately- "How do I create one?", "What do I put on it?", "Can I link it back to my store?". With all the questions circulating about Facebook pages, we thought it would be best to create a little Facebook Business Page 101 for our merchants and help clear up their many questions. Below I will talk about creating a Facebook Business Page, updating your page, a few Facebook applications we recommend, and where to go if you need more help.

Creating a Facebook Business Page

If you do not have a Facebook Business page yet, you will need to create one. When you land on the Facebook homepage, underneath the signup area is a link that says "Create a Page for a Celebrity, Band, or Business." Make sure to use the exact name of your business, if that is an option; the easier you make it for your customers to find you, the better.

Editing Your Facebook Business Page

By clicking on "Edit My Page" below your store's profile graphic you will be able to access the pages settings and add/ remove tabs; from here you can add Video, Notes, Friends, etc. There are a number of Facebook applications that you can utilize to help you post releases, blog posts, and much more. You can check them out by clicking on "Edit My Page" and scrolling down to where it says "More Applications".

Recommended Apps

Social RSS

Social RSS allows you to add your blog/favorite RSS feeds to a dedicated tab on your business page. Therefore, if you post an article on your blog, and add the blog to your Social RSS, it will update automatically and allow your readers subscribe.

Twitter for Facebook App

This app allows you to post your tweets to your Facebook page and encourage your fans to follow you on Twitter.

Notes

You can use this tab to write articles or notes and share them with your fans. This app lets you use some basic HTML to customize so be sure include links to actual products or pages.

Static FBML

We worked with AmericanClassRoomSupply to create a “Store tab” on their Facebook Business page and customized the look of it using this application. Static FBML allows you to use HTML code to create a custom page. We recommend some custom graphics with your store’s look and feel, and including many links that link directly back to areas of your current store.
